Mr. and.Mrs. Clyde Pittman of
Columbus have announced the en
gagement of their daughter, Ann,
to Mr. Robert Hutcherson, son of
Mrs. John Hutcherson and the
late Mr. Hutcherson of Columbus.
The wedding date will be an
nounced later.
Mr. and Mrs. Vance Watson of
Sellers, S. C., will arrive Satur
day fqr a visit with Mr. Wat
son’s sister, Mrs. R. H. Millikin,
and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Rucker Durham
and children, Bill and Carol will
spend the Christmas holidays with
Mr. Durham’s parents, Mr. and
Mrs. W. H. Durham in Tryon. Mr.
Durham is a CBM on the USS New
Jersey, now at Norfolk, Va., for
the holidays. Mrs. Durham and'
children are from Concord, N. C.
Dr. and Mrs. Oliver M. Free
man have gone to Coconut Grove,
Fla., for a month’s stay at the
Plant Introduction Garden. Dr:
Freeman, a former botanist at the
Aboretum in Washineton, D. C.,
w'as also associated with the work
at the Plant Introduction Garden.

have as guests for part of the
holidays, Mrs. Tharpe’s mother,
Mrs. Esther Johnson, and Mrs.

all of North Wilkesboro, who will
be enroute to visit other relatives
at Albany, Ga.
