NO LAUGHING MATTER
The Hendersonville Times-News
reports that water from the old
home place of Bill Nye, the humor
ist, was used to make illicit liquor
recently. The distillery was locat
ed on a portion of the Westerfelt
property in Henderson County,
about 100 yards from Buck Shoals.
Water from the old Nye place was
piped to the still sit^ through six
50-foot sections of hose. ___
The outfit included 20 ferment
ers, a 200-gallon upright wood
fired .boiler, and two 100 gallon
stills, and about 30 gallons of
whiskey in a barrel. The still was
in operation. A truck and auto
mobile was also' seized. Five men
were arrested and given a hearing
before U. S. Commisisoner Jor
dan. A sixth man from Mill
Sipring failed to appear.
