TRAINING PROGRAM
A training meeting for Home
Demonstration Club members and
other leaders interested in music
will be held on Thursday, Jan. 7,
at 10 a. mi., in the Drexel Com^
munity Center near Valdese, N.
C. Leaders from Burke, Alex
ander, Caldwell, Catawba, Lincoln,
Cleveland, McDowell, Polk and
Rutherford counties are expected
to be present , to hear Dr. Arnold
Hoffman of the Department of
Public Instruction and members
of his staff present a program
of music.
All those attending are requested
to bring a notebook, pencil, and
paper; and also a bag lunch. Hot
coff ee will be served to the group.
Any 'interested persons may con
tact the Home Agent’s office by
calling Columbus 2181 or going to
the courthouse to secure further
information.

Dr. Frans Goble of St. Thomas,
Virgin Islands, and Miss Bernice
Dertinger of Chicago, will be mar
ried this afternoon, Dec. 30, at
5 o’clock at the home of Dr. Goble’s
step-mother, Mrs. Mary Webb
Goble, in Gillette Woods, Tryon.
The private civil wedding ser
vice will be performed by Justice
of the Peace John Vollmer in the
presence of members of the imme
diate families and Wililam W.
Cotant. Three relatives who have
arrived for the ceremony include
the bride’s father, Lloyd Dertinger
nf Detroit; a sister, Mrs. Jean
Fried of Cleveland, Ohio, and an
aunt, Mrs. Alma Antaya of
Detroit.
The largest toy-train maker
has fabricated some 25,000 miles
of track to date—a mileage about
equal to that of America’s‘largest
real railroad, says Don Wharton in
the December Reader’s Digest.
Full-size railroad rolling stock in
the U. S. -comprises nearly 43,000
locomotives and 1,800,000 freight
and passenger cars. The toy-train
maker last year alone sold 622,209
locomotives and 2,460,764 cars. *

Funeral services for MaJk, T.
Rindal, (Susan Tucker), ^§i& died
in a Hendersonville hospital Mon
day night will be held Thursday
afternoon at 2, in the Thomas
Shepherd Memorial, Chapel. The
Rev. James “P. Burke, rector of
St. James Episcopal Church will
officiate.
Mrs. Rindal, a native of Cin
cinnati, attended school at Penn
Hall and Pine Manor.
