Legislature in 1978 created a committee to assist responsible groups in the study of abandoned cemeteries and try to preserve them from destruction by vandals, road builders, and others. In Polk County Robert Placak of Rt. 1, Columbus, Box 97 is representing the Polk County Historical Assn, in gathering information about all cemeteries no matter how small. He has the blanks to fill out for the state historical preservation Assn. If you know about any cemetery notify Mr. Placak, Mrs. Nelson Leonard, Seth M. Vining, Sr. or R. M. Palmer. Mrs. Blanche Culbreth and Mrs. J. T. Arledge have already made a number of surveys. The State leaders suggest the Home Demonstration clubs, 4-H Clubs and other civic clubs could adopt the surveys as one of their community projects. — PCHA Reporter
