Communication The TV media reported this weekweek about the firemen in Chicago being on strike for more money. There have been several fires there and a number of deaths since the strike began. These tragedies might have been avoid if ! How thankful we should be in our area for the unselfish, devoted volunteer firemen who serve us. Tryon, Landrum, Campobello and- Inman; also several surrounding Volunteer Fire Departments spend many hours each week in serving our area. We are fortunate, indeed, to have men willing to give of their time, talent, and energy....freely and willingly.... without compensa tion! This is happening to us, while firemen elsewhere strike and stay away from their jobs because they want MORE money and our men get no money at all. Our Hats Off To All Our Volunteer Firemen!!!! Well over half the physicians, dentists and pharma cists who once smoked have quit. Only 1 of every 5 physicians now smoke.
