Once-traditional white roll
shades now come in many colors
and patterns.
Energy-saving colors, such as
pale yellow and white, will reflect
light and make your rooms look
bright. These rooms will take less
wattage to light when electric
light is needed.
Other pastel shades, such as
pink, green and blue, will reflect
some Tight. Dark colors —
browns, earth tones, rusts and
reds soak up light. Rooms in
these colors need more artifical
lighting.
When arranging furniture, be.
sure to take advantage of the
sunlight. In addition, furniture
placed close together makes the
living area seem cozier and
warmer, say the specialists.

When buying food, check the
date if it’s perishable. Be sure
you can use all of it before it
spoils.
Pictured above is the Tryon
High School boys basketball team
as it began its 23-2 season. The
starting five were seniors Bruce
Butler, Warfield Kirkendoll and
Barry Skipper; junior Sam Miller
and sophomore Tony Cunning
ham. The 6th member of the
team was senior Jeff Miller.
These six players did most of the
playing. The team was unselfish
and generally had balanced
scoring. Often all five starters
were in double figures. Occas-
sionally someone would have an
off night, but someone else would
take up the slack.
The team coached bv Mike
Pearson, lost its first game of the
season to Asheville School and
then ran off 23 straight victories
