vigorously seek blood donors. Our quota (accepted by our Board)is
1100 units. It costs our local chapter $3.76 per unit in actual collection
expense. You figure the arithmetic.
DISASTER HELP
IN OUR OWN BACKYARD
Over $10 million was spent on flood, tornado, hurricane relief in the
Southeast alone. 31,968 families received assistance. $23,276,300 was
spent on disaster operations in the U. S. & Puerto Rico. Hurricanes
Frederic/David and tropical storm Claudette cost Red Cross
$15,160,900.
FIRST AID/LIFESA VINO HELP
Red Cross alone organized first aid, swimming, lifesaving (our area
was one of the first in the U. S. for training in 1914).
HANDICAPPED/WELFARE HELP
Red Cross is equipped to offer trained personnel to help the handicap
ped — and assist in alleviating welfare problems.
