Spring must be here. The local
high school baseball, track, golf
and tennis teams have begun
their schedules. For those who
enjoy watching young people
compete, take in some of the
games or matches. You will be
surprised at how well some of
them perform.
Lots of activities are going on
all the time here. Last Saturday
was “Super Saturday”. This was
written before it took place, but
an event like that involves the
work and cooperation of a lot of
people. This is what makes this
area something special. There
are people willing to give their
time to put something on that can
be enjoyed and shared by others.

Artists Are Invited
The Upstairs is extending an
invitation to all artists working in
the Polk County-Tryon vicinity to
submit their work to its upcoming
Polk County Artists Exhibition to
be held during the month of April.
It is hoped that this exhibition can
encompass those artists working
in other than a visual context as
well as visual artists, and for that
reason, invite performing artists
to submit a written proposal for a
performance to be held at some
time during the exhibition.
All entries will be received at
The Upstairs 117 South Trade
Street, Tryon, on Wednesday and
Thursday afternoon, April 2nd
and 3rd., from one o’clock until
5:30 or by calling 859-5345 for an
appointment.
This exhibition is being
organized to give a forum to
serious artists working in the
area and to hopefully create a
climate for the free exchange of
ideas, the healthy dialogue
among artists that is the sign of a
true artists community.
