Wittschiebe of Silver Creek Road will be one of several guest speakers for the Wa-Rite weight-control program which begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening, March 24, in the Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church. Dr. Wittschiebe moved here from Berrien Springs, Mich., where he was Professor of Pastoral Care at Andrews University. He has since been named Professor Emeritus of Pastoral Care by that institution. Since his semi-retirement, Dr. Wittschiebe has been much in demand as a speaker. He is interested in helping people achieve happiness and a good self-image. This, in essence, Is what Wa-Rite is all about; the achieving of good health, good habits, and a good self-image, all of which contribute to happiness. The program will last for twelve Monday evenings, from 7:30 to 9:00 o’clock. Baby-sitting services will be provided. A registration fee of $20 covers all expenses. To register, call 894-8213. C. will hold revival services Sunday, March 23 through Friday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Rev. Richard F. Horney, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, New land, N. C. will be the guest evangelist. Rev. Horney is a. native of Avery County, N. C. After graduating from Crossnore High School, he attended Charlotte Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, N. C. In November, 1963, he married the former Norma Rush of Charlotte. He received his Bible training at Tennessee Temple College in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In 1969 Rev. Horney was ordained to the Gospel Ministry and pastored in Chattanooga for. two years. In 1971 his family moved to Boone, where he pastored 5‘^ years and built the largest congregation in the area. In 1976 he moved to Newland, N. C. to begin a new independent Baptist Church. Emmanuel Bap tist Church has grown and prospered under Rev. Homey’s leadership. Special music will be featured in each service. Among guest musicians will be Frankie Harder of Edneyville, gospel pianist and singer on Sunday evening; Calvary Baptist Male Quartet of Hendersonville on Tuesday evening; and Sonlight Quartet of Springfield, Missouri, on Thursday evening. The public is invited to attend. The Rev. Herb Putnam is pastor of the church. Joseph Thomas Joseph Thomas, 60. husband of Mrs. Evelyn Thomas, 700 Jackson Street, Tryon died Wednesday night at St. Lukte’s Hospital. A native of Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Mary Rice. He worked for Oman’s Nursery, Columbus, Rt. 1. Surviving beside the wife are two daughters, Mrs. Betty Williams of Woodruff; S. C. and Mrs. Johnnie Mae Cook of New York; four sons, Jessie Thomas of Monticello, N.
