Thayer, 83, of Tryon, husband of Eva Missildine, died Sunday in St. Luke’s Hospital. A native of Chicago, he was a son of the late Willard and Helen Thayer. A veteran of World War II, he had retired from the insurance business. He was a member of the Tryon Congrega tional Church. In addition to his wife he is survived by two sons, Dr. Robert Thayer of Potsdam, N. Y. and Ernest M. Thayer of San Francisco; a sister, Miss Marian Thayer of Wilmette, Ill.; a brother, Briece Thayer of Evanston, Ill.; 5 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
