Picnic Prize
The coveted “Best Picnic”
prize will be one of the more hotly
contended events at Saturday s
Steeplechase. While racegoers
show their picnic colors on
tailgates, along hillsides, and
under trees, a mystery judge of
culinary presentation will roam
the grounds looking for what
would be "the picnic most likely
to succeed.”
Formal picnics have tended to
win the honors in the past, but
this year’s judge has indicated an
interest in all kinds of spreads,
from traditional American red-
checkered ones to the tailgate
picnic-deco made popular in the
seventies.
The “Best Picnic” winner will
be presented a trophy, as are
winners of the other events.
Picnic areas open at 10 a.m. on
the Block House grounds, and
races begin promptly at 2 p.m. —
