Spinning
Workshop
Mrs. Persis Grayson, weaver
and spinner of Kingsport,
Tennessee will conduct a two day
spinning workshop at Tryon
Crafts. April 15th.and 16th, 1980.
Mrs. Grayson is past President
of Southern Highland Handicraft
Guild, charter member of the
World Craft Council and Hand-
weavers of America. She has an
extensive study and teaching
background, is a lecturer and
judge, as well as contributing
author and editor and consultant
to businesses and magazines.
The workshop will consist of
lectures, demonstrations, discus-
siohs and learning to spin on
various types of spindles and
spinning wheels. She will work all
types of fibres, except wool,
including flax, cotton, silk and
synthetics.
A spokesman said, “Tryon
Crafts is indeed fortunate to be
able to present this workshop
with such a well known and
personable spinning expert.”
Mrs. Grayson stops here on her
way to the dedication of the new
Folk Art Center in Oteen, which
will also be attended by Mrs.
Joan Mondale, wife of the Vice
President of the United States.
