Landrum Council Has Busy Night The Landrum City Council met Tuesday night and voted to buy radio-phone equipment for a second police car. The first was installed two weeks ago. In other action the Council approved the first reading of an ordinance regulating the licens ing of dogs; voted to refinance the $1,250,000 loan with Farmers Home Administration; adjusted a water bill for Church of God of Phophecy; passed a resolution agreeing for sidewalk construc tion on South Church Street with the S. C. Highway Dept.; approved the first reading of annexation petitions from Mrs. Cora Boyd and James Boyd, whose property adjoins the City Limits. Dan Young brought the Council up to date on the City-County Recreation program and Police Chief Neil Ayers gave his report and requested the purchase of a tape recorder for the courtroom. This request was approved by the Council. Moves Here Mrs. Eleanor Searles has moved here from Orlando, Fla. She retired from Francis Slater in Winter Park, Fla. where she did alterations. She is a native of Florence, Pa. and enjoys knitting, needlepoint, sewing and spoiling grandchil dren. She is the mother of Mrs. Donald Viehman of Tryon. She has 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Mrs. Searles is a Catholic. Rev. K. B. Hayes At Landrum Pentecostal The Landrum Pentecostal Holiness Church will have as a guest speaker Rev. R B Hayes on Sunday, April 13th Rev. Hayes now lives in Taylors. S. C., but he was a former resident of Tryon. The morning worship service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the evening service will start at 6:30 p.m. Visitors are welcome. Red Fox Bridge Winners of the Tuesday Bridge at Red Fox Country Club were as follows: 1st., Ann Miller, 2nd Virginia Jinkinson. 3rd., Ellen Pettit, 4th. Willa Reed. Leland Rites Services for Mrs. Edwin C. Leland, 61, of Saluda, were held Wednesday at McFarland Fun eral Chapel with the Rev Tom C. Capell officiating. Burial will be held today (Thursday) in McClellanville Presbyterian Cemetery. McClellanville, S. C. Mrs. Leland died Tuesday morning.
