“Godspell” April 16 — 20 In Spartanburg SPARTANBURG, S. C — "Godspell", a joyful musical interpretation of the gospel of St. Matthew, will be staged by the Shoestring Players of the University of South Carolna at Spartanburg on April 16 — 20. Performances are scheduled at 8:15 p.m. on April 16-19, and there is a Sunday matinee at 3:15. All performances will be held in the Tukey Lecture Theatre on the USCS campus. Elements have been borrowed from almost every form of entertainment to provide two hours of inspirational but lively entertainment. This largely improvisational theatre piece was first conceived and produced by Stephen Schwartz and John-Michael Tebelak in the early 1970's and has proved to be a favorite production of audi ences world wide. “Godspell” features Andrew Moller, a former professional singer and musician, in the role of Jesus and Thom Seymour, who has delighted audiences at both The Spartanburg Little Theatre and Arts Center's annual Shakespeare Festival, as Judas. Also in the cast are Rosalind Huffman, a veteran of two national professional theatre tours, and Christopher Cline who appeared two seasons ago in the North Carolina drama. "Unto These Hills." Teri and Sam Smith, who also appear in “Godspell". bring acting exper ience in Atlanta and Greenville to this production Teri has former ly appeared at both the Greenville Fine Arts Center and The Warehouse Theatre; Sam appeared in “William Ingle’s Classic Picnic" in Atlanta in addition to his other credits. Four newcomers round out the cast of characters Karen Hollifield. Cecilia Hood. David Lawson and Meg Prass all bring their own brand of wit to the production Janel White. Luke Hughes and Tracey Logal also appear as singers and musicians. Gets High Position Phyllis Walker Barber daughter of Mr. and Mrs’ Thomas T. Walker of the Sandy Plains Community has recently accepted the position of Surgical Services Supervisor at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville. North Carolina. Ms. Barber is a 1966 graduate of Polk Central High School and received the Baccalureate De gree in Nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After practicing on a Clinical Research Unit and in the Emergency Room, she has spent the past six years involved in various phases of Operating Room Nursing, including Staff Nurse. Head Nurse, and Assis tant Supervisor. New duties for Ms. Barber deal with budgeting, policies, proce dures and staffing development, among other aspects of manage ment. Pitt County Memorial Hospital is a rapidly growing hospital, primarily due to its close association with the East Carolina University School of Medicine The operating room performs approximatley 900 surgical procedures each month, in a suite consisting of 9 operating rooms and one cystroscope room.
