PROJECT’ Continued From Page One program will begin April 14 at the Church of The Good Shepherd. Children from Polk County Child Development Center will come to the programs on Mondays where Mrs. Esther Robinson will be the director of R.I.F. activities. On Tuesdays, the Stony Knoll Child Development Center will bring their children to the center for the book program where Mrs. Lenora Johnson will be the director, along with a team of volunteers. R.I.F. Volunteers will visit the Kindergarten and First Grade Classes each Thursday at Tryon Elementary School to read books with the children and books will be distributed monthly. Reading Is Fundamental, Inc. (RIF) is a national, non-profit organization designed to moti vate children to read by giving them the opportunity to choose and to own books. The local RIF Project is sponsored jointly by the Church of the Good Shepherd and the Tryon Community Schools Project. The Church Women United have chosen the R.I.F. Program once again as one of the projects for their organization. Volunteers from this group spend one hour a week reading with children. Persons interested in joining the R.I.F. Project as a volunteer should call the Tryon Community Schools Office at 859-5428. Contributions may be sent to the R.I.F.
