Joe Hill In
“The Rainmaker”
Joe Hill was in “The
Rainmaker” presented by the
Hilton Head Island Community
Theatre. It ran for seven nights to
a full house. A former Tryon
Little Theater performer, Joe is
the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Hill
of Columbus. His performance
was praised by reviews in the
Hilton Head News and the Island
Packet.
"Joe Hill, who came to this
play from “Philadelphia Story”
and "Kiss Me Kate” ^ave a
surprising performance. Coming
from a role as a straight-laced
young man in "Philadelphia
Story”, he knocked the socks off
everybody as the rainmaker. A
wild-eyed Hill, as Bill Starbuck,
appears as the con man and
dreamer, who breaths life into
the Curry family. He is able to
give hope to Lizzie, and the rest of
the Curry household. — from the
Hilton Head News
“Joe Hill, as Starbuck, the
Rainmaker, bursts on stage at
the end of Act I, and from that
moment he is the catalyst for
every member of the cast His
silver iodide rhetoric cons the
Curry family into paying $100 for
the necessary rain, and Hill was
so convincing in his glittering
portrayal that, had the Curry
family failed to come up with the
cash, the audience would have
passed the hat. His powerful
performance had the marks of a
veteran actor.” - from The
Island Packet
