Rotarians Hear “Camelot” Tryon Rotarians have an annual party for their Rotary Anns — their wives. This year the party was held on Monday evening with Camelot as the theme. Rotarian Theo Kerhulias sup plied a North Carolina castle in the form of his Lake Lanier Tea House. A North Carolina moon over Lake Lanier supplied a beautiful evening following a glorious day gilded by blooming azalea. Under the direction of Club Director, Ben Ryan, an Enter tainment Committee of Frank Basler, chairman, Raynard Christianson, Al Johnson. Ken Smith, Herman Spoerer and Hank Welch arranged with host Kerhulias for a “happy hour" and feasting. Before feasting. President Mark Anthony called the multi tude to order and Dick Jackson offered the invocation. FOR SALE: Console 21“ Color TV in good condition, $300. (803) 592-2115 (Lake Bowen), adv. 21, 22, 23c. Feasting finished President Anthony again called for order and immediately turned the party over to Master of Ceremonies, Basler. Basler re ported that after an international search, in honor of International Rotary, the best acts that auditioned were in the Club membership. F irst were modern day singing minstrels dressed as colorfully as any medieval songsters. The Rotary Barber shop quartet of Joe Erwin. Sam Marlowe, Hugh Means and Bob Porter appeared in straw “skimmers” with red hat bands, peppermint striped shirts, white trousers and, apparently in honor of the famed English “Order of the Garter”, with elastic garters on their left arms. They told the audience, among other things, "we can’t give you anything but love”, and the audience responded by giving them nothing but applause — but in generous amounts. Rotarian Steve Fitch, as King Arthur, and his Rotary Ann, Christine, as Queen Guinevere, with music and words told what Camelot was all about — with an assist from accompanist Pam McNeil at the piano. The ancient king might have felt strange but comfortable in Steve’s “mod" jacket and slacks, but Guinevere would have felt at ease in Christine’s regal white gown The charm of the music this couple made far exceeded any magic that Merlin ever performed with ancient sorcery. In song the Fitch’s speculated, "What do the common folk Do?" They learned that Rotarians show appreciation for pleasure giving performance by repeated bursts of applause — Reporter FOR SALE: Acme Challenger Juicerator model No. 7001.
