Healthy, Well-Thy
And Wise!
By the popular request of both
participants and visitors, the
Polk County Health Fair is being
held again this year at the 4-H
Youth Center. Columbus. Its
festive booths will be on display
all day Friday from 9 a.m. to 8
p.m.
According to Bertha Blomficld-
Brown. chairman of the Health
Services Information Center,
sponsor of the fair, this is a great
opportunity to discover that
many of your friends and
neighbors are associated with a
number of local organizations
interested in your health,
whether that health is preventa
tive or healing. And that Healing
can range from help with marital
problems, or drug problems, to
instruction on how to apply
cardio pulmonary resusitation.
The Fair’s slogan is “Come, Be
Healthy, Well-Thy and Wise!"
To bring alive the vital story of
blood, the Red Cross will exhibit
a piece of equipment never
before seen in Polk County where
one can press buttons to ask a
questions and.lights will flash on
the answers.
A “Wheel-of-Life” depicting
how our existence stems from the
good earth, will tell you that the
belter the earth, the belter the
food, and the better your general
well-being.
And then others will show how
to prepare that food and how to
preserve it.
A graphic demonstration pro
mises to show doubting Thomas
es right before their eyes how
cigarette smoking can damage
their bodies. And the 7th-Day
Adventist Church will also
provide the free opportunity to
have blood pressure checked and
blood sugar tested
There will be an ambulance on
view, and many other features.
Miss Blomfield-Brown stated
that the HSIC is grateful to the
County Commissioners for their
support in making this Fair a
reality.
