The shattered wreckage of a Greyhound bus and a mangled automobile were pulled out of Tampa Bay Sunday as more bodies are found in the Sunshine Skyway bridge disaster. Twenty- five bodies have been found. Two elederly women were injured when fire broke out early Sunday at Carolina Village, a large retirement complex near Hendersonville. Alligator Found: A 7 ft 4 alligator was found in front of Brannon's Country Store at Stott’s Corner Saturday morning There were no bullet holes and the gator was apparently hit by a car. No one knows how the alligator got there or where he came from. None of the zoos in the area have reported one missing. MAY 13, 1980 Honor Students At Polk Central VALEDICTORIAN Stewart Brian MacWilliam The valedictorian of the Polk Central class of 1980 is Stewart Brian MacWilliam, son of Lieutenant Colonel and Mrs. James H. MacWilliams of the Peniel Community. A member of the Bela Club, Stewart is treasurer this year and was Western District president last year He is editor of the school newspaper. The Patriot Press, and a member of the Pep Club. Since 1977 he has worked as a vounteer in the Polk County Library. Among his many honors and awards are the Woodman of the World social studies award for two years. UNC Alumnae Book Award for mathematics and science, and attendance at Western Carolina University School for Gifted Students in the 8th, 9th. and 10th grades and at Governor's School last summer. A brief business meeting will bo held to examine the budget allocations and to elect officers. There will be performances by the Tryon School Band and the Young Peoples Choral Groups of the Elementary School. The band is directed by Joseph Lorenza and the Choral Group is directed by Mrs. Helen Hilyer and accompanied by Mrs. Carole Blackburn. Everyone is invited.
