Tennis Tourney
Registration is now open for the
Annual Polk County Jaycee
Tennis Tournament. Entry is
open to all residents of Polk
County and Landrum Commun
ity. The Tournament will be
played during three weekends in
June and all matches will be
played at Harmon Field in Tryon.
The 12 through 18 age division
will be played June 14 and 15. The
Mens and Womens Open Age
Singles will be June 21 and 22.
The Open Age Doubles will be
June 28 and 29.

2-Car Wreck
There was a 2-car accident
Sunday about 1:15 on South Trade
St. here in front of the Gas for
Less Station. A 1973 Oldsmobile
driven by Mrs. Patricia (Joyce)
Alewine Hyder, Rt. 3, Landrum
had stopped at the Gas For Less
Station for gas. Officer Leon Foy
stated that Mrs. Hyder said she
pulled out into the road and did
not see the ’64 Ford Station
Wagon operated by Sidney Nelon
of Rt. 1, Tryon. The Nelon vehicle
hit the Hyder vehicle on the
driver's side.
Officer Foy said that Mrs
Hyder and her mother, Mrs
Clara Alewine of Tryon and Mr'
Nelon and his sons, Robert and
