Rockwell International Corp,
has purchased 253 acres near
Fletcher for the construction of
an automotive manufacturing
plant. It’s Principal Auto
motive products are axles,
brakes and drivelines, but the
company has expanded its
automotive lines into electronic
systems and fiberglass reinforc
ed plastic products. Il is expected
to provide 750 to 1000 jobs.
The Country Style Steak and
Chicken Dinner is tonight from
6:30 to 9 p m. at St. Lukes
C.M.E. Church.
Saturday the Tryon Federal

having the official opening of
their newly remodeled and

Pairings Made
The Polk County Jaycee Open
Tennis pairings have been made
for the Saturday and Sunday
Tournament at Harmon Field. On
Sunday at 12:30 the Women's
Semi-Finals will be held and the
finals will be at 3 p m. The men’s
semi finals will be held Sunday at
1:30 p.m. and the finals at 4 p.m.
In the men’s singles Gaden
Corpening has been seeded No. 1
and David Vining No. 2. Other
seeded players are Rick Cooper
No. 3, Tim Corbett No. 4. Bryan
Corpening No. 5, Eric Pettigrew

On Tour
The American Institute for
Foreign Study trip to Paris,
Switzerland and the Riviera is
being led by Mrs. Patsy Pack of
Tryon. Tour members are Mark
Alexander, Scott Roger Humph
ries, John Prass, Jackie Fisher,
Jean Wilhlem, Carolyn Roff and
Mary Roff.
Mary Roff will leave the tour in
Nice to go lo St. Jean de Luz for a
four week visit with Marie Josee
Chapel who stayed with Mary
last year in Tryon.
