The Tryon Federal Savings & Loan Open House last Saturday drew crowds all morning. Everything looked nice and the officers, directors and employees were on hand to greet everyone. Sunday afternoon the Polk County Jaycecs had two success ful events going on at the same time at Harmon Field. The Antique Car Show was being held in Eargle stadium and the semi-finals and finals of the Jaycee Open Tennis tournament was going on alongside the stadium. Wesley Sharpe has been assigned to the Saluda-Co lumbus United Methodist Church. A native of Statesville, Mr. Sharpe is beginning his first full time ministry. He is presently a student at Emory University and will be continuing his education in addition to his ministry. He resides at the Charge Parsonage in Saluda. Members of the Columbus United Methodist Church wel comed him on Wednesday evening at a family supper and Administrative Board meeting. Notice To Food Stamp Households Effective August 1st, some food stamp households may receive fewer benefits due to the increase in Social Security and-or Sup plemental Security Income bene fits and the new rounding of income procedures. JUNE 24. 1980 Tryon Federal Has Well Attended Open House Almost 1,000 people attended the Tryon Federal Savings and Loan Association Open House on Saturday, June 21st With refreshments, prizes and awards, everyone seemed to have a most enjoyable time The Art Exhibit, coordinated by Interiors 248 and The Iron Horse Guild, featuring local artists, was one of the featured attractions. To end the festivities, a drawing was held. Little Miss Daniell Owens. 4 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs Danny Owens, pulled the winning numbers.
