Mr. White has served two years as Green Creek Principal and taught at Polk Central for 10 years prior to that Mr. WHite stated that he hated to leave Green Creek,, but that he had an opportunity to enter private business which he couldn’t pass up. (Mr. White is going into the nursery business with a brother and two cousins in the Sunny View area). He stated that he was extremely lucky to be placed in Green Creek as principal and if he had remained in education he would have liked to have stayed at Green Creek. Mr. White said that the coopera tion he received from the students, parents, teachers, secretary, lunch room workers, janitor, Superintendent and School Board had been excellent. Mr. White is a graduate of Georgia Southern University and received his masters from Appalachian State University He is married to the former Joyce Woodard of Waycross, Ga an they have two children, Cindy, age 12 and Chris, age 10. Polk doggers The Polk County Cloggers will be dancing Saturday beginning 8 p.m. at the Landrum Emergency Services Day Palmetto Field in Landrum. Variety, General Merchandise Store Planned For Landrum A 40,000 square-foot variety and general merchandise store is planned to open in the Landrum area in March of 1981. T G.&Y. Stores, based in Oklahoma and operating more than 900 outlets coast to coast, will operate the family merchandise center on the north side of U. S. Highway 176 about 3/10 of a mile north of Landrum. The developer, Lat Purser & Associates, also announces plans for a supermarket on the site. The T.G.&Y. store is expected to employ some 40 local people. J. M. Newgent, president of the company says, “We have been aware of the outstanding market opportunities in Landrum- Tryon for several years and have been working to complete plans for this project for a year and a half." T.G.&Y. operates three classes of stores. At Big Bradley Falls The Polk County Rescue Squad was called to Big Bradley Falls, Holbert Cove Monday afternoon about 5:45. Wendy Boone, age 16, of Spartanburg was standing near the top of the falls when she slid on some slick rocks and plunged about 100 feet.
