As schools move through various stages of development one type of leadership style in the principalship may prove to be more appropriate than another if the school is to come close to achieving its maximum potential. One of my reponsibilities as superintendent is to determine what type of leadership is most appropriate in any given situation at any given time, always looking at what’s best overall for the school system. I believe that the primary skills that Carthon Hinson and Alan Peoples bring into the principalship can best be utilized by the Polk County Schools if a lateral transfer is effected thereby moving Mr. Hinson from Mill Spring to Stearns and Mr. Peoples from Stearns to Mill Spring. I realize also that I have the legal responsibility to assign and reassign all school personnel but I would like to have formal board acceptance of these transfers to be made effective immediately. I will work out the administrative details of the transfers and see to it that each man is appropriately introduced to the respective faculties. Dr. Larry D.
