WNC Beautiful Contest Tuesday
and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Broom
of Jackson's Canada Community
won first place and $300 in the
1980 mobile home individual
contest. Mr. and Mrs. George H.
Bolton of South Hominy in
Buncombe won second place and
$200 in the mobile home contest
while Mr. and Mrs. Willie L.
Brackett of Fox Mountain in Polk
County won third and $100.
The Iranian Parliament
delayed a full debate Tuesday on
the American hostages and voted
to select a special committee to
deal with the fate of the 52
Americans in their 318th day of
captivity.
The Soviet Union has
demanded the return of a Soviet
soldier seeking political asylum

Four Arrested
For Larceny
Four have been arrested for
larceny of $3,000 and a German
Luger last Sunday night at the
trailer of Jack Story near Lynn.
The money was in a green
fireproof box which also
contained Mr. Story’s papers.
Polk County Chief Deputy Allen
Rickman reported that the box
had been forced open, the money
taken and the box and papers
thrown into a lake near
Henrietta. Officers recovered
$2400 and the gun.
Arrested and charged with
larceny were Coleen Story
Wright and Timothy Millis of
Rutherford County and Joe
Conard and a juvenile from Polk
County.
