Delta Kappa Gamma The Gamma Beta Chapter of Delta Kappa Society International met Saturday, October 4, at “Melody Falls”, the home of Mrs. Doris Lackey. The program encompassed a series of book reviews and a film entitled "Toward the Future" presented by past presidents of the Chapter: Viola Young, Princa Moore, Odessa Cooper, Amelia Wilkie and Elizabeth Correll. The theme for the year’s program is “Women Teachers: Architects of the Future.” Part of the business matters considered and approved concerned awards to honor Della Kappa Gamma members who ma de outstanding con ribulions to education in Korth Carolina. ? emb e r - Betty van he^' wh ° transferred from Gam m ha, l er “ Conn cclicut to Trv 3 Bela upon moving to Toon, was welcomed into the Doriu?^ ly bosmsses who with groan ey served lun cb to the Sh rL "I Margar et Swann, Betty > Brp SbCl ' Carol >' n Brady, Asas’*" "“^ Nancy McKa Is Autumn Princess Prints ™£V 0n Autumn ' n 3 row Sa urd ‘ h a sccondyear Majorettes dunng Dru m com Petition at 1J • America tit13 qualify fc N C ' The 31 1981 National? R ^^tor T^ ltes and her ^tanburg’ J ° Ann Fog le 0f Communication To the Editor: We were utterly amazed to read the fabulous claims Mrs. Sauve’ made last week in The Thermal Belt News about the progress made in Polk County under her leadership. It would have been more accurate if she had stated that progress was made in spite of her leadership. This is true for several areas in which she and her fellow commissioner tried to dominate activities. Our Governor, Jim Hunt, and the group of local citizens who were promoting the Industrial Park are the ones responsible for the Wheaton Plant being located in Polk County Mrs. Sauve' and her group agreed to very limited involvement only after it became apparant that Wheaton would not abandon the plant it had built Governor Hunt responded to a flood of requests for help from both Democrats and Republicans who were concerned about the opposition of our County Government. We want to thank our Governor, Management and citizens involved understanding determination. Wheaton all for those their and We have asked a committee of citizens to objectively research and publish some of the de ai this progress and leadership claimed by Mrs. Sauve , 50 all citizens will have a c , understanding of the AB , „ leadership we have ha almost two years of ^^ bc and confusion We hope published this week.
