guilty Tuesday in the Polk County
Superior Court to being an
accessory after the fact in the
September 1979 slaying of James
Delmar Gosnell. 22. in his
Columbus residence
Judge Edwin S Preston Jr_
sentenced Ward to serve 1
years.
In August, Gosnell's wife,
Carolyn Lee Gosnell 28. was
convicted of second degree
murder of her husband and w
sentenced to 25 years -

Re-Elected
Peter E Frohlich of Landrum,
South Carolina, was re-elected as
the southeastern regional
director of the Door and
Hardware Institute during its
annual international convention
in October. He will serve a two-
year term.
Frohlich is president of
Bommer Industries, Inc. He
presently serves on the executive
and exhibitors advisory
committees of DHI. In addition,
he is the first vice president of the
Builders’ Hardware
Manufacturers Association.
DHI is an international
nonprofit trade association whose
members specify, distribute and
manufacture doors, door
hardware and safety devices for
commercial buildings.

October 17
The parade celebrating the
125th anniversary of the Town of
Columbus will be held Saturday,
Oct 17th at 10 a m Mrs. Peggy
Dedman, chairman of the Parade
stated that there will be horses
and carriages. 1926 Studebaker,
1929 Essex, Twirling
Spartanettes, Tryon and Polk
Central bands, floats, etc
Congressman Lamar Gudger will
be present and all past mayors
and councilmen for the Town of
Columbus have been invited.

and Craft exhibit to help
Columbus celebrate its 125th
birthday. Artists and craftsmen
throughout the county are invited
to participate. The show will be
judged and a number of prizes
will be awarded including 1st
prize of $100,2nd of $75 and 3rd of
$50. The entry fee is $1 per piece
