Nelson and Frederic Chevalier, 2nd (tie) Communication October 10,1980 Dear Mr. Vining Today, it seems we vote against something rather than for something. This in itself is a sad state of affairs and also reflects a sad state of mind on the part of the Voter. We need to vote for what we believe in and for the Candidate most aligned with our own thoughts and beliefs. Our vote should not be cast simply because we are against something or somebody. Out vote has to be cast for the ideals and principals guiding our life and actions. As a citizen, we have to stand up for our beliefs. This is very important, our vote voices our opinion at the polls and tells our Elected Officials what we want in our Goverment and from them. To cast a vote for a particular candidate simply because of the popularity of the candidated is not telling our Elected Officials what we want and need from them. I only wish it were possible to put the four candidates into a grinder, extracting the undesirable traits, and keeping the good from each. Sincerely, William I. Sherwood 281 Dug Hill Road Tryon, N.
