S. Department of Commerce. A breakdown of the county’s total agricultural sales for 1978 followed by that for 1974, is as follows: Crops, $613,000 compared with $541,000; livestock and livestock products, $1 million and $838,000; poultry and poultry products, $1 million and $727,000. While the value of gross sales rose, the farmers' cost also climbed since 1974. Expenditures for feed for livestock and poultry for 1978 were $11 million compared to $704,000; costs for gasoline, diesel and otiier petroleum products were $91. compared to $78,000. Farm energy costs of all types totaled $129,000 for 1978. The estimated market value of machinery and equipment per farm increased from $10,944 to $16,817. THURSDAY, OCT. 23,1980 Ernest Burwell Funeral service for Ernest Burwell, 83, of Tryon will be held today (Thurs.) at 1 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross with the Rev. James Reynolds officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in the Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Spartanburg. Mr. Burwell died early Tuesday morning. A native of Tarboro, N. C. he was the son of the late George Ernest and Lilla Pugh Bell Burwell. He was a graduate of Charlotte High School and studied at the Alexander Hamilton Institute and General Motors Institute. He was a pioneer automobile dealer in Spartanburg and founder and former owner of Ernest Burwell Cheverolet. Mr. Burwell came to Spartanburg in December of 1921 to take over the Ford dealership.
