Trvon Daily Bulletin. Thors., Oct. 23,1980 NOTICE Effective November 1,1980 the winter operating hours for the Polk County Landfill will go into effect. The present late evening hours must be altered as the day shortens and day light savings time begins. Following are the Health Official Answers Questions Clifford Fields, Director of the Health Dept. for Polk, Rutherford and McDowell Counties along with Paul Toney, Chief Animal Control Officer for these counties visited the new operating hours. 8:30a.m. —6 p.m. Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday 8:30a.m. —6p.m. Closed 8:30a.m. —6p.m. 8:30a.m. —6p.m. Friday Saturday 8:30a.m. 3:30p.m. adv. 20 - 31.C. They answered numerous questions and reviewed the support which the county gives the Society. Since Mr. Fields is in charge of and supervises the animal shelter in Rutherfordton and the animal control program, his explanation of their organization and procedures were helpful and informative for the Society's Board members. Other items discussed by the Board were the establishing of “half-way" houses. According to Mrs. Robert Irons and Miss Sally Walker, co-chairwomen of the "Adopt-A-Pet" Committee, the purpose of this effort is to ask for volunteers who will temporarily house animals locally so they would be convenient for new owners to see and adopt. Also, Mrs. Mark J. Parsons, Chairwoman of the Special Events Committee called to the Board's attention that the names of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hunter had inadvertently been omitted from her commitee. — Polk County Animal Protection Society Andrews Furniture Co.
