C. 28782 Turns Herself In For Murder Polk County Sheriff Boyce Carswell reported that Brenda Joyce Belcher, 34, of Charlotte turned herself in Tuesday about midnight for killing her husband in Charlotte She told the sheriff that she couldn't run any more. The Sheriff's Dept, contacted the Mecklenburg Sheriff's Department to find out if a murder had taken place and was told that one had. They held Mrs. Belcher at the Polk County jail for the Mecklenburg officers to pick her up. Jewelry, Silver Is Stolen The home of Ms. Cornelia McLean in Pacolet Valley just off Hwy. 176 was entered Monday. About $10,000 in jewelry, silver, watches and gold pieces were taken while Ms. McLean was at work. The back door was kicked open for entry. Sheriff Boyce Carswell reported that investigation is continuing in the case. Mr. and Mrs. Peter Mahler have returned to Delray Beach, Fla. after visiting Mr Mahler s mother, Mrs. Ernst Mahler at Chinquapin Farm in the Hunting Country. When the Tryon Tigers and the Polk Central Patriots battle for the championship of Polk County, no one thinks of who has the best record. The Tigers have had a rough season and are 8-9. Polk Central has been excellent and awful, depending on the week. They are 2-6-1. Going by the record the Patriots have to be the favorites, but don’t bet on it. Kickoff at Polk Central at 7:30 p.m. Tryon Council Meets Monday The Tryon Town Council will meet Monday at 7:30 p.m at the Tryon Town Hall. Meets Tuesday Polk Central Band parents will meet Tuesday, Nov 11 at 7:30 p m. at the school. Mr. and Mrs Lee Hicks of Palm Beach, Florida are the weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs George F.
