McFarland Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Maude L. Pace Maude L. Pace, 86, of Greenville Street, Saluda, died Wednesday morning at her home after a long illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Polk County. She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Newman Pace and widow of the late Herbert E. Pace, who died in 1964. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Lawler, Mrs. Ruby Pace and Mrs. Betty Thompson, all of Saluda; a son, Wayman 0. Pace of Saluda; and a sister, Mrs. Eva Hooper of Brevard. Services will be held today (Fri.) at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Saluda of which she was a member. The Rev. Tom Capell and Rev. Victor Blackwell will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery Thomas Shepherd and Son Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements. Died Wednesday Fanning Hearon Fanning Miles Hearon, 74, died Wednesday at 12:20 p.m. at White Oak Terrace, Tryon. A native of Bristol, Virginia, he was a son of the late Charles O. and Belle McLaughlin Hearon. He was a graduate of Washington and Lee University and served as a Navy Commander during World War II and Korean War. His father was publisher and editor of the Spartanburg Herald- Journal. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of Holy Cross He was a member of the original Fine Arts Center Board and was president of the Tryon Little Theater. He was associated with WTYN for a number of years. Surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Ed Dickson of Richmond, Va., Mrs. Baylies Hearon Willey of Hollings. Va , Sally Hearon of Charlotte; a son. Instrumental Music, Poetry, Readings The public is invited to a program of vocal and instrumental music, poetry and readings at 4:00 o’clock Saturday afternoon, November 22, in the Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church. There is no admission charge. An offering will be taken for the church’s Investment fund, which goes to missions, according to Mrs. Lois Laybourn, local Investment leader.
