Tryon Daily Bulletin. Tues., Nov. 25,1980 Curb Reporter class Making Continued From Page One Doll Houses the Christian Science service is Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Tryon Church. There will be no Bulletin on Thursday. Items for Friday's paper should be in the office by Wednesday morning. Local schools will be closed Thursday and Friday for the holidays. Polk County Historical Association will meet Tues., Dec. 2nd at the Polk County Library. Tryon School Lunch Menu Tuesday: Homemade chicken rice soup w/crackers or rolls, buttered yellow corn, fresh fruit du jour, milk. Wednesday: country fried steak, buttered whipped potatoes, seasoned green beans, homemade rolls w/butter, homemade apple cobbler, milk. Tryon School Breakfast Menu Tuesday: choice of juice, homemade sausage roll, milk Wednesday: choice of juice, choice of dry cereal, milk. Emergency Numbers The Tryon Volunteer Fire Department and the town of Tryon will be mailing out Emergency Telephone Numbers labels in the Town Water Bills this next week. These will be mailed out December 1st and art compliments of the Fire Department. Each Town Water Bill will have two (2) peel-off labels enclosed in the envelope. Additional labels are available upon request at Town Hall The Tryon Volunteer Fire Department reminds us to please be careful during live upcoming Christmas Season and also during the winter months. Mr and Mrs. John F. Walsh and children, Hillary and John, III of Cincinnatus, N. Y. are spending Thanksgiving week in Tryon at the home of the A Daniel Trumbles. Mrs. Walsh is Mrs. Trumble’s sister and the daughter of Mrs. Grace Stanley, also of Tryon The Advanced Furniture 2 and 3 at Tryon High School have been turning out Doll Houses. Philip Pleasants, teacher of the class, said that they have been working on a mass production-type problem and set up an assemlby line where each person did a certain job and the product came together in the end. Each person was assigned a particular job on the assembly line for the doll houses which were built to scale. The houses are approximately 2’ x 4' and stand about 2'i’ tall. Mr. Pleasants said that some of the students are also building a few of the houses to sell. If anyone is interested they may call Mr. Pleasants or leave word at the high school. Saluda Club Elects Officers Dr. Mark Hicklin. Family Physician of Tryon, was the speaker at the November meeting of the Saluda Community Club. He spoke about the program for Family Physicians, especially as it was established in 1969 when Family Physicians were certified and there was an emphasis on continuing education Today Family Physicians must be recertified every 6 years. At the business meeting the following officers were elected for 1981: Chairman, Rev. Tom Capell; Vice Chairman, Mrs. Martha Ashley; Secretary. Susan Folsom; Treasurer, Charles Younghans There will be no meeting in December. Promoted Jefferson A Dowda, son of Mr and Mrs. Jesse D. Dowda of Route 2, Campobello, S. C., has been promoted in the U S. Air Force to the rank of airman first class. Airman Dowda is a missile mechanic at Minot Air Force Base. N D. Mr and Mrs E L. Bishop of Tryon will have their children home for Thanksgiving, Bob and Ruby and Deanna Bishop Martha and George and David Wheeler. Marinda Bishop Buchanan and daughter. Leslie In New Home Mr. and Mrs. James H. Davis, have moved to their new home at 310 Hogback Mt. Rd. They have as house guests for Thanksgiving week their son and his family, Mr. and Mrs. James B. F. Davis, Miss Jennie, Miss Arianne and Benjamin James, of Southfield, Mich. "OH BOY, ISN'T HE CUTE?" People say when they see "Rocky" a perky, tan, yr.-old boxer with four white paws, white bib, black mask and a love ol life.
