C. B. Trammel, Jr. Among the victims of the fire at MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada was Charles B. Trammel, Jr., 53, a former resident of Columbus. Trammel was executive vice president and chief executive officer of the old Elkin-Jonesville Savings & Loan in the 1950s and 1960s before moving to Hendersonville in February of 1980 to be vice president and managing officer of the First Federal Savings & Loan of Hendersonville. He was living in Belle Glade. Fla. before Ins dealfi He was a Federal Savings & Loan. His sister, Mrs. Max A. Fox of Boone, said Trammel stopped in Las Vegas for the night on his way from a savings & loan convention in California to Elkin where he was going to celebrate Thanksgiving and go deer hunting Mr. Trammel lived in Columbus when his father was pastor of the Columbus Baptist Church'.
