Contribute To Downtown Improvement Since the completion of the renovation of the Tryon Depot and its garden, the Town of Tryon and the Central Business District Committee, supported by the Polk County Community Foundation. other civic organizations, materials and labor donated by private citizens have accomplished the following appearance improvements to the Downtown Business areas: Depot Plaza, Cowan Memorial Garden, South Trade Street (Pacolet to RR Crossing), Woodland Park and Tryon Stairs. To date many buildings and grounds in the downtown area have made significant renovations and improvements. All of the above projects except the Tryon Stairs have been fully funded and paid for. Construction is now complete except for the walkway across the railroad tracks at the top of the stairs and the landscaping of the immediate area. In order to defray the costs (unpaid balance) of the Stairs, landscaping and other appearnace improvement projects for Tryon's business area, the Tryon Central Business District Committee had requested the Polk County Community Foundation to establish a Tryon Appearance Improvement Fund to assist the Committee in meeting its past and future obligations in improving Tryon's business LINDER'S SHOE SERVICE ■ AFC . The Foundation has agreed to serve as recipient of donations being designated for appearance improvements to the business area. A minimum of $4,000 is needed. The Donations are tax deductible. Checks are made payble to Polk County Community Foundation, "Tryon Appearance Improvement Fund") and mailed to No. 1 Depot St., Tryon, N. C. 28782 or you may drop-off at the Tryon Town Hall.
