The Tryon Little Theater play, “The Philadelphia Story", opens Thursday at 8:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center. The box office is open and other performances are Friday and Saturday nights at 8:30. Today and Wednesday there is a special show and sale of Ethel Chase Watercolors at the Meeting Place Library from 10 a.m. to4p.m. Portrait Ready Of Dr. Bosien An oil portrait of Dr. William Riley Bosien will soon hang in St. Luke's Hospital, a memorial to the surgeon's many years of practice in this area, and to his contribution to the upbuilding of the hospital. the public is invited to the dedication fo the portrait, which will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday. December 7, in the main lobby of St. Luke’s. Mrs. Theo Kerhulas will be hostess for refreshments. Dr. Marian Bosien welcomes all to this simple ceremony in honor of her husband, "Dr Bill” who began practice here in 1954. Andrew C. Wetterer commissioned the portrait, which was executed by Dorothy Quest. Mrs. Ben Douglas of Tryon had as Thanksgiving guests Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Pollitt (Molly Douglas) and twin daughters, Mary and Elizabeth of Clarksville, Ga.; Miss Ellen Douglas, a graduate student at the University of Pittsburgh; Miss Marianne Douglas, who was enroute from Hilton Head, S. C to New York City; and S M Douglas of Asheville. Officers Elected Tryon R.&H. Club The annual meeting of the Tryon Riding and Hunt Club was held at the Hearthstone Inn recently. The membership elected the following new members to the Board of Directors to serve three year terms: Paul Culberson, Dr. Vanna Magsino and Mrs. Charles Lingerfelt. These new directors in addition to the following will represent the T. R. & H. C. during the 1980-81 season: Mrs. Irene Acker, Elbert H. Arledge, Jr., Robert H. Gardner, Jr., Gustav A. Hoffman. Alfred M Page and Col. CharlesC. Ross. At a special meeting of the Board on November 18, the officers for the 1980-81 season were elected: President: Gustov A. Hoffman; Vice President,, Edward D. Beatson; Treas., Elbert H. Arledge. Jr.; Recording-Sec., Irene Acker. The Committee Chairmen for 1980-81 were established: Advertising. Alfred M Page; Membership, Edward D Beatson; Publicity, George S. Stotoff, Social, Mr. and Mrs. Marc Parsons; Tryon Horse Show. Mrs. Irene C. Acker; Property. Col. CharlesC. Ross. The 1980-81 Calendar of Events are listed below: Block House Steeplechase Races — April 4; Tryon Junior Horse Show — April 11; Tryon Horse Show — May 22- 24, Piedmont Paso Fino Horse Show — August 29-30; Any and All Dog Show; October 4; Combined Training Event — October 17-18; Annual Meeting Dinner — November 11. “Comedy Of Errors” The Shakespearean classic “Comedy of Errors" will be presented at Wofford College in a public performance on Thursday, December 4, by the internationally known National Shakespeare Company of New York.
