No snow, but nippy. President-elect Ronald Reagan Monday named Samuel R. Pierce to head the Dept of Housing and Urban Development; Jeane J. Kirpatrick, ambassador to the United Nations, James G. Watt as interior secretary and former S. C. Gov. James B. Edwards as energy secretary. Some 1,480 executives have accepted early retirement incentive offers from Sears, Roebuck and Co. and will leave the nation’s largest retailer Dec. 31 with half pay for the next three years, or until age 65, whichever occurs first. Offers were made in Sept, to 2,400 employees in Sears’ corporate operation and its merchandise, credit and international business groups. The merchants, industries, organizations and individuals who have Christmas greetings in today's paper, wish everyone a Very Merry Christmas. There will be no Bulletin tomorrow and the office will be closed. A contribution for the Lighted Christmas trees in Tryon has come in from Nell and Carl Tomko. TRYON. N. C 28782 Town Of Tryon Outstanding Employee The Town of Tryon Christmas Party was held Monday from 4 to 7 p m. All employees of the Town, Fire Department. retired employees and special guests saw Yolanda Walker and Frankie Greene honored as the Outstanding Employee of the Year 1980. The awards were presented by Town Manager Charles Lott. Outstanding New Employee Awards were presented to Billy Stepp and Nathan Shields. Mayor Ken Tucker presented the following Service Awards: Scott Owens, 5 years; Nell Lawson and Ronnie Pack, 10 years; Elwood Martin 20 years; George Littlejohn 35 years. A Special Service Award was presented to the family of the late Gene Tucker who was employed by the Tryon Police Dept for 10 years. Recognized for their contributions to Development of Youth in the Community were Franklin Williams, Ronnie Pack. Jimmy Lankford, Jerry Ross, Clarence Scoggins. Ken Tucker Outstanding Performance and Dedication Awards were presented to William Price, Clarence Henson, Calvin Cochran. Shank Hipp, Howard Tipton, Roy Williams WEDNESDAY. DEC. 24,1980 Employee Of Year At a dinner banquet held in the hospital dining room on December 16th, Mrs. Linda A. Lott, R.N., MIC'N, was presented the coveted "Employee of the Year" award. Through her expertise as Director of Critical Care Services, Mrs. Lott is credited with much improvement in all the critical care areas, include Intensive/Cardiac Care Units, Emergency Room and EMS (Ambulance) Service. Duty may call at any time during the day or night to which she responds so ably, ft is no small task to keep these functions operating smoothly and is often found covering a shift herself on the week-ends when the staff is short of qualified personnel. Mrs. Lott joined the staff in February 1977 as a Cardiac Care Nurse. She has a B.S. degree in nursing from the University of Rhode Island She is a native of New Jersey.
