The only possible explaination was a meteorite or a satelite burnin g as they hit the earth’s atmosphere. About 11 p.m. there was a forest fire near the power line which goes over the gap between Melrose Mtn and Rock Spur and the reports were going out that there had been a plane crash in the area. Tryon Police Chief Jerry Ross was the first officer on the scene and he slated that there was no plane wreckage but that he had found some fireworks and he believed the fire to have been started by youths shooting fireworks off the mountain. Local rescue squad and police took part in the search. The fire according to reports burned about 15 to 20 acres Weavers Meet Weavers from the Western North Carolina Fiber Guild will hold a Tryon region meeting at the home of Mrs. J W Haythorn, Thursday at 10 a m Discussion will center on the study for the year Guests are welcome.
