Tryon Pastmaster Bill Barham
has announced that Sheila
Thompson (Mrs. David A.) of
Landrum. S. C. has been hired
from a roster of eligibles who
successfully competed in the
extrance examination She
replaces Gilmer Lynch who has
transferred to Spartanburg. S. C.
as Supervisor of Window
Operation. Postmaster Barham
said that Mr. Lynch would be
missed at the Tryon office and
that they wished for his success
in his new position
Mrs. Thompson is a graduate of
Appalachian State University
and has her Masters Degree from
Augusta College. Mr. and Mrs.
Thompson have a daughter.

Lockridge, 72. of Tryon died
Thursday at 1:15 p m after a
brief illness
A native of Franklin.
Pennsylvania, she was a
daughter of the late Clifford
Brink and Katharine Brown
Dolson.
Mrs. Lockridge was a writer
and used her maiden name,
Hildgarde Dolson for many
years. She had done a large
number of novels, and non fiction
including "We Shook The Family
Tree". "The Husband Who Ran
Away". "The Form Divine”,
"Heat Lightning", and "To Spite
Her Face". She had also written
magazine articles for The New
Yorker. Good Housekeeping.

Beat Edneyville
The Saluda Junior High
basketball teams split a
doubleheader with Edneyville
Thursday with the Edneyville
girls winning 34 to II and the
Saluda boys taking a close 34-11
win. The leading scorers for the
Saluda boys were Darrin Pace
with 19 points and Britt Gordon
and Andy Morgan with 7 points
each The next game is today at

Mrs Frank Bolick and son,
Ben, have returned to Chapel Hill
after visiting Mrs Bolick's
