Dr Braswell is a 1973 graduate of Wake Forest University. He received his M D. degree from The Bowman Gray School of Medicine of Wake Forest University in 1977. He served his internship at Vanderbilt University Hospital in Nashville. Tenn, and completed his residency in Family Medicine at The N. C. Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. His special interests include hunting, fishing and golf Mrs Braswell (Susie) is a 1974 graduate of Salem College in Winston-Salem with a B S degree in medical technology Her interests include sewing, cross-stitch, reading and crafts The Braswells have two children. Kevin, five and Ashley, two. Dr. Braswell will join Dr Mark Hicklin in partnership under the name of Foothills Family Medicine. Town Meeting The Tryon Town Council held a special meeting Monday night at the Town Hall The Town Board approved an amendment to the original Community Development Block Grant to increase the income levels for eligibility requirements. The Board officially received a letter and resolution from the Harmon Field Commission requesting that the Town Board of Commissioners take appropriate legislative action to amend the distribution of the ABC profits This would give to Harmon Field the 20% presently designated to Polk County. (It is estimated that this would be ipproximately $8,000) The Town Board approved the lotice of lease proposal to WTYN Radio, approximately 6 acres of Town Property at the sewer plant for two lowers. The Town Board received information on procedure of annexation and will begin study and workshop sessions on enlarging the corporate boundaries of the Town March Of Dimes Sunday, Feb. 1st The Polk County Jaycettcs are sponsoring the Mothers March of Dimes on Sunday, Feb 1st Mary Cartwright Is Rotary Speaker The Tryon Rotary Club will meet Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the the Pacolet River Plantation Ms Mary Cartwright, manager of Energy Information for the Duke Power Co will be the guest speaker. Ms. Cartwright is responsible for coordinating energy and environmental information programs for the corporate communications department.Ms. Cartwright joined Duke Power in 1978 She was previously employed by Oak Ridge Associated Universities During this association she was programs coordinator for the American Museum of Science and Energy in Oak Ridge Before joining the museum staff in 1974, she taught high school chemistry and physics. A native of Blountville, Tenn. Ms. Cartwright graduated from the University of Tennessee where she majored in math and physics. Thomas Committees Sen. R. P. "Bo" Thomas has been named chairman of the Small Business Committee and vice chairman of the Senate Finance Committee He and Sen Joe Palmer were both chosen to be on the committee to redistrict the N.
