Wayne Searcy reminded us
that we were wrong when we said
that this year’s Polk Central girls
basketball team had gone farther
than any other Polk Central girls
team. The Polk Central team four
years ago went to the District
finals before Edneyville upset
them. The Polk Central boys beat
Edneyville and went on to State
Semi-finals. Both Polk Central
teams were undefeated during
regular season play.
James Payne reminded us that
a Tryon team has won the State
Basketball championship.
Edmund Embury High School
won the title in 1957 at Durham.
At that time the schools were still
segregated and Edmund Embury
High School was for the Negro
children.

The Columbus Post Office
employees are looking forward to
serving their new customers

Campobello routes. Even through
it is an inconvenience to have
mailing addresses changed, we
feel it will be an advantage to
those involved in the future when
procuring drivers license,
insurance, etc. The Postal
Service personnel will strive to
make the transition as smoothly
as possible for those who will be
effected.
All utility companies, tax office
and publishers of newspapers
and magazines will be notified of
the new addresses of the
customers by the Postal Service
Kits for notification to personal
correspondents, etc. may be
picked up at the Post Office.
Unfortunately, in order to
serve approximately 450 new
customers, it will necessitate the
changing of a few of the existing
Columbus addresses on Peniel
Rd . Highway 108 to Lynn and on
Highway Old 19 between
Columbus and Lynn. All effected
customers will be notified.
