miles into hostile territory

Baghdad, a facility Israel
claimed would have made atomic
bombs for use against the Jewish
state. The attack, made Sunday,
was not released until Monday.
The startling Israeli operation
was condemned in Washington,
as well as in Arab and other
Western capitals.

on El Salvador that helped launch

mistakes.

indicates North Carolina

The engagement of Carla Ann
Fricks has been announced by
her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Woodrow Fricks of 107 East Crest
Avenue, Landrum. On August 22,
Miss Fricks will be the bride of
Michael Glenn Downey, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Defoy Downey of
Route 3, Inman.
Miss Fricks is a graduate of
Landrum High School and will be
attending Spartanburg Methodist
College this fall. She is employed
by 0. P. Earle Elementary
School in Landrum.
Mr. Downey was graduated
from Chapman High School and
is presently employed by Newton
Brothers Welding in Wellford
The wedding will take place at
the Landrum United Methodist
Church.

Officers Elected
Last week at Hearthstone Inn
the Tryon Little Theater held its
annual meeting and picnic.
Around 125 members and guests
attended the business meeting.
The following board members
were elected for a three year
term of office: Connie Junker,
John Young and Lynwood
Giacomini. Elected as officers
were Ed Glenn, president. Connie
Junker, vice president. George
Stothoff. secretary and Al
Daniels, treasurer. Membership
chairperson, Babs Cavendish
reported that the TLT has well
iver 900 members and was
congratulated by outgoing
oresident Jack Kendall for a job
well done. Al Daniels, treasurer,
gave a short report that delighted
the audience. Jack Kendal)
turned the gavel over to the new
president, Ed Glenn who called
on Homer Brice. He expressed
the thanks of the TLT board and
members for the superior quality
of Jack Kendall’s presidency
which received a firm and long
ovation from those present The
meeting was then declared
adjourned and the conviviality of
the picnic was thoroughly

Office, there will be a meeting to
