Entry is open to all residents of Polk County and Landrum Community. The tournament will be held at Harmon Field in Tryon during three week-ends in July and August. The 12 through 18 age division will be played July 25th and 26th. The Mens and Womens Open Age Singles will be August 1st and 2nd. The Open Age Doubles will be August 8th and 9th. Landrum Library Summer Reading Program In the first two weeks of the Magical Mad Hatter Summer Reading Program, 200 children have joined and 27 have already read at least 10 books and received their top hat to place on the rabbit name card. Budweiser of Spartanburg, S. C. won the Men's Championship with Toney's of Forest City second and Johnson and Cooley of Chesnee, S. C. third. The leading home run hitter was Billy Lattimore of Toney’s who had 8 roundtripers. The Fleet of Greenville, S. C. won the Women's Tournament. Executive Session For School Board There will be a called Executive session of the Polk County Board of Education on Monday, June 22 at 8 pm. in the office of the Superintendent to discuss personnel matters. The Bulletin. JOc Per Copv Four Arrested Polk County Deputy Mack Blanton and Saluda Policeman James Edney arrested three males and one female Tuesday night. The four are charged with breaking and entering the Saluda Texaco Station and with doing property damage to the Saluda Washerette. Polk County Sheriff Boyce Carswell reports that three more individuals have been returned to Polk County to face charges for breaking and entering and stealing the prescription pads from Dr. Grace Jaynes. This makes four arrested for the breaking and entering. They face charges in Spartanburg County for forging prescriptions. Bulldozer Recovered A stolen bulldozer from Hwy 74 has been recovered on Shelton Laurel Road in Haywood County according to Polk County Sheriff Boyce Carswell. The 450 John Deere bulldozer, valued at $52,000 was stolen sometime Saturday afternoon or Saturday night from the section of Hwy. 74 which is under construction in Polk County The bulldozer is owned by Industrial Landscaping of Rt 7, Shelby. The theft was reported to the Polk County Sheriff's Department at 12 noon Monday, and a state-wide alarm was put out. The bulldozer was found in Haywood County about 10:30 Continued On Back Page
