Tax Notices
Are Late
The Town of Tryon Tax Notices
are late due to the town switching
to a computer. Town Manager
'Chuck Lott said that residents of
the Town should receive their tax
notices within two weeks. Mr.
Lott said that the 2% Discount for
payment of taxes now would be
extended through September He
said that those who desire to pay
their taxes now could stop by the
Town Hall.
Saluda Women’s Club
The Saluda Woman's Club held
their annual picnic meeting at the
Civic Center Paviollion
Pres Nelson presided at the
business session and reviewed
the activities of the club during
the city centennial celebration.
The club won first prize in the
Coon Dog Day Float for the third
consecutive year, maintained a
beautiful flower garden and has
been active in all of the
Centennial activities.
For the fall project, the club
will work with Mrs. Ingle, school
principal, supplying needs for the
underprivledged children.
The next meeting will be at the
house of Mrs. L. Aldridge on
Stockhouse Road

California is visiting his parents,
Mr and Mrs. Clary Jones on
Lake Lanier He has with him his

“A Midsummer
Night’s Dream”
The Upstairs Players will
present William Shakespeare's
"A Midsummer Night’s Dream”
on Aug. 15.17, IB and 19. It will be
presented at Brookwood Park in
Landrum on Saturday and at the
courthouse lawn in Columbus on
Monday. On Tuesday, the 18th the
theatre troupe will be at the park
in Saluda and on Wednesday, the
19th in the Fine Arts Center
garden. All performances will
begin at 7 p.m. and are free.

Reading Of
Gillette’s Play
The Upstairs Players will host
a reading of a play by Tryon's
William Gillette Sunday at 3 p m
at the Upstairs. The play to be
read will be "Secret Service."

Gelolo Kell Wilson (Mrs.
Robert C.) of Grand Rapids,
Mich, sent us a news item about
some friends of hers who were to
be in Saluda on August 9th. The
letter was written Aug. 6th,
mailed Aug. Sth and arrived in
Tryon Aug. 13th.
"Mrs. Betty Vaughan of Grand
Rapids, Mich, and her son, Greg
Vaughn of Kalamazoo. Michigan
will occupy the Jack Morse home
in Saluda the week of August 9th
while the Morses are on vacation.
Mrs. Vaughan is eager to sample
the Western North Carolina
climate and hospitality, having
heard so much about it from us.
Mrs. Vaughan is a case worker in
our local Mental Health Clinic
After-Care Program. Greg is a
graduate student at Western
Michigan University."
Call For
Tryon High Girl
Tennis Players
Tryon High School Girls Tennis
Coach has issued a call for all
girls who wish to play tennis this
fall to be at the tennis courts at
Harmon Field Monday at 9 a.m.
Mrs Stafford said that there is
a need for old tennis balls for the
ball machine and if anyone had
any to please leave at the Bulletin
office or at the school. 1
