Benjamin James, born September 8th at York General Hospital in Rock Hill. Benjamin weighed 9 lbs. 1 07.. The maternal grandparents are Mrs. Elizabeth C. James and N C. James, Jr of Statesville and the paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs Seth M. Vining, Jr of Tryon. The maternal great grandmothers are Mrs Hoyle Collins and Mrs. N. C. James, both of Statesville. The paternal great grandparents are Mr and Mrs. Seth M Vining of Tryon Wreck Highway Patrolman C. T. Kennedy investigated a two- vehicle accident at the intersection of Hwy 108 and No 9 at Mill Spring which took place Monday at 4:10 p.m. Trooper Kennedy said that Johnny Wood of Gaffney, S. C stopped at the stop sign on Hwy. 9 and then pulled out into the path of a 1974 Pontiac driven by James Logan of Rt. 4, Rutherfordtcn. The Logan vehicle struck the side of the '79 Ford driven by Wood and turned it over. Wood and his passenger, Clyde Messer of Gaffney, S. C. were taken to St. Luke’s Hospital. Both vehicles were totaled according to Trooper Kennedy.
