He is one of 15,000 semifinalists being named this fall entered the ‘82 Merit Program by taking the '80 Pre liminary Scholastic Aptitude Test National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Semifinalists are the participants who scored highest in their respective states and they represent less than half of one percent of each state’s secondary school graduating class. Michael is a member of the Beta Club, annual staff, 85 Club and was a Junior Marshal at Landrum High School. He was selected for the 4th Congressional District Classroom Program but was unable to attend last summer due to an automobile accident. Tawana Rickman Is Miss Polk Central Miss Tawana Rickman, a senior at Polk Central High School was elected Miss Polk Central last Friday by the Student Body. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Allen Rickman of Mill Spring She has been active in student activities and athletics. Miss Janet Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Horace Smith of Columbus was named the runner- up Miss Smith has also been active in student activities and athletics.
