$4,300 Raised For
Cystic Fibrosis
The Polk County Jaycees and
Jaycettes held their Sth Annual
Cystic Fibrosis Bike-A-Thon this
past Sunday, Sept. 27th starting
at Tryon High School. Under
beautiful weather over 100 bike
riders turned out to participate in
the 20 mile course through Polk
County. The Bike-A-Thon
produced $4,300 in pledges for the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
All pledges must be turned into
Town Hall by Monday, Oct 12th.
Three new ten-speed bicycles
will be awarded to the top
pledge-raisers.
Concession Stand
Open Today
The Tryon Boosters Club will
have the concession stand open
today for the Youth football
games at Harmon Field. One
game is at 6 p.m. and another at
7:15.
A New Arrival
Mr. and Mrs. David Halford of
Columbus are parents of a son,
Justin David, born Sept 26th at
St Luke's Hospital He weighed 9
lbs. 1 oz. Justin has a sister,
Michele who is 9 years old.
The maternal grandparents
are Mr. and Mrs. Homer
Wilkerson of Columbus. The
paternal grandparents are Mr.
and Mrs. Jonas Halford of Mill
Spring and the paternal great-
grandparents are Mr. and Mrs.
Harley Foy of Mill Spring.

Hall Of Fame
Bernice and Louis Perrottet
were honored at the annual
meeting of the Tryon Chapter,
Second Wind Hall of Fame, held
Monday, September 28th. The
membership presentation was
made by James E. Moore
charter member of the Tryon
Chapter.
Lou lived in southern Illinois
near Belleville. He taught at a
country school — ail grades —
