President Reagan said Monday
in New Orleans to the meeting of
International Association of
Chiefs of Police that more
attention should be given to the
victim of crime than to the rights
of the criminal.
Two men executed gangland
style and stuffed in a car trunk
were identified Monday as Hells
Angels, one of two motorcycle
gangs that are blamed by
authorities for a recent crime
wave in the Carolinas The bodies
were found in a trunk of a car in
Raldolph County. They were
identified as Michael "Thunder”
Finazzo, 40, president of the Hells
Angels in Charlotte and Tyler
Duris “Yank” Frndak, about 30,
a gang member. Both men had
been shot at close range.
Director Dean Campbell has
determined that it will be very
disturbing to the rest of the
audience if late-comers march
down the aisle and make several
people get up so they can get to
their seats once "The Belle of
Amherst” has started. Late

Mr. and Mrs. Hughes M. Zweig,
formerly of Oak Brook. Ill have
moved into their new home at
Many Levels.
Mr Zweig, a native of Webster
Grove. Mo. has retired from U.
S. Steel as vice president of
Operations of U. S. Steel Supply
Division He is a graduate of the
University of Minnesota where he
majored in Business
Administration
Mrs. Zweig, the former Loraine
Daggy, was born in St Paul,
Minn She is also a graduate of
the University of Minnesota with
a major in Business
Administration.
They read of Tryon several
years ago in the Country Inns
publication. They like to drive for
2 days and then stop for three
days. They happened to stop at
Pine Crest Inn during the spring
and liked what they saw and
made several more trips to see if
it was what they wanted.
Mr. Zweig likes gardening,
photography, golf and
astronomy. Mrs. Zweig is an avid
gardener and likes to play golf
They have 3 sons, Gary of
Naperville, Ill.; Tim of
Minneapolis, Minn, and Rick of
Scottsdale, Arizona. They also
have five grandchildren.
Dog Show Sunday
The Any and All Dog Show will
be held Sunday at 2 p.m at
Harmon Field One of the most
interesting classes each year is
the Dog with the Most Doubtful
Ancestry.
Vance-Aycock Dinner
North Carolina Democratic
Party leaders and elected
officials will gather with party
members from across the state
for the 21st Annual Vance-Aycock
fund raiser dinner set for October
3.
Party officials expect some 900
party loyalists for the $50 a plate
dinner being held at The Grove
Park Inn in Asheville.
Congressman Ken Holland,
from South Carolina's Sth
District, will be the speaker for
the fund raising event that tops
the list of Vance-Aycock weekend
activities.
Melvin Hines of Columbus has
the tickets alloted to Polk County
and those interested in attending
should get in touch with him
A New Arrival
Mr and Mrs. Charles Shehan
of Mill Spring are parents of a
daughter, Crystal Gayle, born
September 25th at Rutherford
Hospital. She has a brother,
Grady, age 5,and a sister. Annie,
age 2'4.
The paternal grandparents are
Mr. and Mrs. Link Shehan of Rt.
1, Tryon and the maternal
grandmother is Mrs. Dora Bailey
of Mill Spring.
Tim Corbett, son of Mr. and
Mrs B. C. Corbett of Tryon is a
patient at St Luke’s Hospital
Tim, a senior at UNC at Chapel
Hill broke his leg while playing
touch football last Saturday
afternoon at Hannon Field.

at 7 p.m at the high school.

In Landrum
There will be a Parent-
Teacher-Student organizational
meeting for all parents of
Landrum High School students
Monday. Oct. 7th at 7:30 p.m. at
the Landrum High gym
conference room. All interested
parents are invited
Jogging Class
A beginning Jogging class is
being formed through Isothermal
College Polk County Campus.
This class will entail a basic
concept of physical exercise and
diet with three mornings of
jogging and or three evenings. To
register or for more information
call the college at 859-5868. This
class is for both male and female
participaints with no age
restrictions. Registrations
deadline is Friday, Oct. 16th
