Charges Dropped
Against Stott
Wednesday at the Polk County
District Court, the State of North
Carolina took voluntary
dismissal to both criminal
charges brought against Bobby
Joe Stott by the complaintant
Mike O'Neal, editor of the
Thermal Belt News Journal.
O’Neal had brought charges of
Communicating a Threat and
Trespassing against Mr. Stott.
Tournament Of Bands
In Landrum Saturday
The Landrum Band Boosters
Club will sponsor the 3rd annual
Harrison Elliott Tournament of
Bands, hosted by "The
Distinctive Regiment" of
Landrum High School. The
tournament will be held Saturday
at the Landrum football stadium.
Opening ceremonies will be at 3
p.m. with the first band in
competition performing at 3:30
p.m. The Awards Ceremony will
begin at 8:45 p.m. Bands will be
classified for judging by number
of instrumentalist, excluding
percussion, as follows: Class IV,
up to 35; Class III, 36-49; Class II,
50-64; Class I— 65 or more.
Judging will be Olympic Style

The Rev. Dillard Davidson
Beulah Baptist Church will
have Pastor’s Appreciation Day
on Sunday, Oct 4th. The Rev.
Dillard Davidson has been pastor
at the church for 22 years. He will
be honored at the worship service
and this will be followed by a
fellowship dinner at the church.
A spokesman said, “Mr.
Davidson has carried a motto
with him through these years, "It
is better to give than to receive",
and he has truly given much of
himself, time and love to all of us
who have known him.” All of his
friends and family are invited.

District committee will meet
Monday. Oct. Sth at 7 p.m. at the
Town Hall.

At Polk Central
Friday night will be" Polk
Central's Homecoming against
the North Carolina School for the
Deaf. The Homecoming Queen
will be crowned during halftime
ceremonies. The Homecoming

11th grades and the Homecoming
candidates are from the 12th
