to file for mayor, or for the
council in Columbus. Saluda and
Tryon. Everyone must be
satisfied with the job being done
by the present office holders
because there weren't many
offering for the jobs. In
Columbus, Mayor Ted Owens has
no opposition. For Council, the
incumbents Harry Denton and
Mary Hicks filed for re-election
as did Thomas P. (Pat) Wilson.
The holdover councilman will be
Harold Martin who was
appointed to fill the unexpired
term of Caton Dedmont.
In Saluda, Cater Leland, Jr.
has filed for re-election as mayor
and incumbent Homer Taylor
filed for re-election to council.
Miss Genell Pace, filed for the
vacant seat due to the death of C.
W. Huey.
In Tryon. Mayor Ken Tucker
filed for re-election as did
Councilman Melvin Phillips.
Charles Lankford, who has
served many years as
councilman and mayor did not
offer for re-election as

Raised $3,200
The recent Tod Waldrop Day at
Landrum raised approximately
$3,200 for the scholarship fund.
The day was in honor of Tod
Waldrop, a Landrum resident
and student at Clemson
University who was paralyzed in
an automobile accident last year
Bob Cogdell and Dan Young
were co-chairmen of the event.

the lease of the former Iron Horse
Guild building The town
received 5 proposals and selected
the one offered by Wanda
